Today, I am small…

Today, I am small, like a whisper said behind my back.

A flower thrusting through the fall ground, reaching for the remaining warmth of the sun.

Today, I am small, like a book that bores you but you can’t put it down.

A star hidden behind the moon, waiting for its chance to shine.

Today, I am small, like the song you keep forgetting the words to, but trapped in your mind.

A little girl, propelling herself on the swing when her feet don’t quite touch the ground.

The truth is… there will be no more pretending.

The truth is… this story hasn’t reached its ending.

The truth is… love remains the same.

Today, I am small, like the porcelain cup on your highest shelf.

Today, I am small, like the light on a far off porch in the dark night.

Today, I am small, but tomorrow…
